Kames Capital strengthens its global equity team
Kames Capital has strengthened its global equity team with the appointment of Craig Bonthron.
Bonthron joins Kames as investment manager and will report to Pauline McPherson, the co-manager of the Kames Global Equity Fund.
He has 12 years financial services experience and joins Kames from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership where he was investment director global equities and was the joint fund manager of the Swip Global Sustainability Equity and Global Islamic Equity funds.
In his new role Bonthron will work closely with McPherson analysing stocks for the global equity fund, whilst working with Kames’ regional equity specialists to ensure their best investment ideas are represented in its global equity portfolios.
Prior to Swip, he was a portfolio manager at Kleinwort Benson Investors, responsible for its Global Water Fund. He also had a three year spell at Alliance trust as a North American investment analyst.
Commenting on the appointment, Kames Capital’s chief investment officer Stephen Jones says: ‘Craig brings 12 years of experience in global equities where he has been both fund manager and an analyst for a number of different strategies and geographies. This experience leaves him well placed to seek out and analyse good ideas for our global equity funds.’
The Kames Global Equity Fund, which is managed by McPherson and Neil Goddin, is currently ranked first quartile over one and three years.
