The election as I saw it on social media
The surprisingly spot on exit polls, Lord Ashdown promising to devour his hat & Russell Brand getting behind Labour. The 2015 General Election has been one of the most exciting political events of living memory. Well it has been for me anyway, I’m 27. I think this was only the third election I’ve paid attention to, or have been old enough to appreciate.
I think a lot of people were more exposed to this election than any before it because of the sheer level of conversation happening online. Social media has become a force to be reckoned with, though you could argue that it’s also quite misleading. The newly elected Prime Minister is referred to more often than not as “Dishface” on Twitter and I’m not convinced it’s a term of endearment.
That being said, I can’t think of any place I’d rather watch one of the most important events for our country unfold, than on Twitter. Here’s election night as I saw it:
There were people hating the Conservatives
Looks like it could be a great night for fans of taking money away from the poor and vulnerable and giving it to the rich. #GE2015

There were people hating on UKIP

There was talks of a new coalition…
Nobody will win outright.I don't trust Tories on the NHS and Welfare.I don't trust Labour on the Economy. So I want Lib Dems in the coalition
