Kames Capital opens its doors for RedSTART Financial Education Days
Kames Capital has become an official partner of RedSTART, a financial education initiative led by investment consultant Redington.
Over the next 12 months Kames Capital will host three RedSTART Financial Education Days from the firm’s head office in Edinburgh. The aim of the RedSTART initiative is to put people in control of their finances, giving them the skills they need to successfully and sustainably manage their financial futures from a young age. The next RedSTART Financial Education Day hosted by Kames Capital will take place on Thursday 19th November.
Each of the Financial Education Days will see a minimum of eight Kames Capital employees from across the business delivering interactive sessions to 15-25 young people from a number of local schools. Topics the sessions will include; money and budgeting, goal setting and saving, borrowing and lending and ‘the entrepreneur’. Although educational, each session will be delivered in a relaxed and fun environment and will be followed-up by the students’ schools with further classroom-based education.
Susan Thom, human resources director at Kames Capital said: “RedSTART is a fantastic initiative aimed at improving the financial literacy of children and empowering them to take control of their financial future.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the RedSTART scheme and look forward to welcoming the students to Kames over the next year.”
Mitesh Sheth, Managing Director at Redington adds: “According to charity, MyBnk, nine out of 10 people in the UK have received no financial education. Through our RedSTART initiative, we have witnessed how willing young people are to engage on personal finance issues and we are pleased to be partnering with Kames to continue this drive. Now is the time to collectively address this huge savings challenge and enable young people and those entering the workforce to be more financially aware.”
