Openwork Foundation Cycle team hopes to raise £55,000 on its 16th overseas challenge

A team of advisers, staff and friends of Openwork, including cyclists from Zurich, hopes to raise over £55,000 for the network’s community involvement programme, the Openwork Foundation, with a sponsored bike ride in the shadows of the Nepal mountain ranges.
 
This is the 16th overseas Cycle Challenge for the Foundation and will see 16 cyclists cycling 300km over a very demanding terrain from 7-16 October.  They are raising funds for to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK and overseas.
 
Commenting, Mark Duckworth, Openwork CEO, says:
 
“I am very excited about this year’s Challenge. This will be my fourth event, having previously cycled across India, Vietnam-Cambodia and China. Cycling the terrain south of Kathmandu will be tough, but we’ll find the motivation to complete the challenge by thinking about the disadvantaged children we’re able to support through the Foundation.  These children are dealing with tougher challenges every day of their lives and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to help them and I’m truly proud of the fantastic culture of giving that we have at Openwork.”

The Foundation team in Nepal includes Devesh Ambasna, Guy Bolam, Stuart Buckingham, Toby Cobb, Brian Downton, Mark Duckworth, Lesley McMillan, Cat McNeil, Donna Melrose, Sanjay Parmar, Ramon Puig, Mo Rasool, John Roberts, Sam Tesch and Penny Wemyss and Marc Wooldridge.
 
Last year the Foundation, under its theme ‘Cares 4 Kids’, funded grants of over £308,000 to charities nominated by Openwork advisers and staff, helping 5,572 children and their families.
