Bring me sunshine (and the Friday Links blog)…
If you haven’t had the pleasure yet, we’d like to introduce you to Messrs Friday and Links – just as Zippy would be up to his fabric neck in do-do were his Ken-Livingstone-esque strangulated utterances and selfish antics not thrown into sharp relief by the softly spoken wise words of mild mannered George and Edmund Blackadder would have imploded in an invective-laden bile soup were his whipping boy Baldrick not on hand to take the verbal beatings (and arrows), so Mr Friday would be a dull man indeed without his old friend Master Links to brighten his afternoon.
And while Morecambe and Wise might have made you cry with laughter at their breakfast ‘strip tease’ when these two come together at the end of the week they can at times leave you wide mouthed in wonder and awe, oh yes siree. For the Friday and Links duo serve up only the choicest tidbits the web has to offer that over the week have made them chuckle or are generally of interest to social web users or creative types.
But how oh how to get across the true character of these two? Hmm, it just so happens there’s a link or two for that. If our Mr Links were an author, on the basis of what’s been written upto now on these here Friday Links blogs, why he’d be Vladimir Nabokov of course. That’s what the genius site I Write Like… tells us anyway. Try it for yourself, cut and paste a couple of paras of your best prose here and it’ll tell you who you write like.
Whereas our Mr Friday, well we’d have to say he is more of a musical type, akin to a 70s rock star who still lives with his parents – a bit of a Frank Zappa, actually more of an Eric Clapton. See for yourself.
So there you have it, they are our chums already, but once you get to know them we’re sure they’ll be an end of week staple for you, too, because what’s not to love about a couple that bring you wallpaper the quality of that found at Elton John’s parents’ house?
