Institutional Protection bolsters sovereign wealth expertise with
specialist appointment
7 April 2022
Institutional investor action specialist, Institutional Protection (IP), has announced the appointment of sovereign wealth expert Anthony van den Bosch as a senior adviser.
van den Bosch spent more than 15 years working at the Kuwait Investment Office, the world’s first sovereign wealth fund, where he managed litigation activity as Head of Operational Strategy. van den Bosch – who began working as an independent consultant in November 2021 – has strong expertise in core areas of operational risk management and ‘operational alpha’ (securities financing,
litigation and tax recovery).
Institutional Protection currently works with six major wealth funds across Europe, the Middle East and North America. The appointment of van den Bosch will enable the firm to further increase its global footprint and support an ever growing number of institutional investors – of all sizes and jurisdictions – in what is becoming an increasingly more complex litigation landscape for them to navigate.
Overall the firm works for over $8 trillion of asset owners and asset managers and provides services spanning the entire investor action sphere, including both shareholder and financial antitrust action services.
Caroline Goodman, CEO of Institutional Protection, commented: “Having had the pleasure of knowing Anthony for a number of years, we are delighted to now be welcoming him to the team. Over the 18 years we have been providing investor action monitoring, recovery and advisory services, the global investor action arena has changed dramatically. Navigating this landscape can be incredibly complex, and so our overarching aim is to make managing shareholder litigation as simple – but meaningful – as possible for as many investors and their beneficiaries as we can. As some of the largest investors in the world, supporting wealth funds forms a key part of this objective.
“The investor action landscape continues to internationalise and grow in complexity. Anthony’s deep knowledge of investor litigation, coupled with a unique understanding of the challenges facing our clients, will add enormous value to the work that we do.”
Anthony van den Bosch commented: “For institutional investors – not least sovereign wealth funds – investor litigation is now about so much more than the recovery of losses, it’s about using your influence to improve the quality of investments for the benefit of future generations. Helping clients to do exactly this is something Caroline and her team are highly skilled at and playing my part in this movement is something I am very excited about.”
