MRM Update – Winter edition
BRRRRRRRRRR. It’s ‘snow’ laughing matter about how cold the start to 2015 has been (you know we can’t resist a weak weather pun!)…though at MRM HQ we’re yet to see any actual snowfall, unlike our good friends at Scottish Friendly…but thankfully our client list is really hotting up.
We’ve recently welcomed a number of new companies to the fold and are chomping at the bit to tell you more – details to be announced in due course!
In the meantime, following the success of the My Financial Services (MyFS) debate on the future of retirement funding that took place in December, the MyFS team are in the process of producing a report that will not only look back at what came out of the last debate, but will also include additional insight and commentary from those that took part. Elsewhere, Scottish Friendly, Scotland’s largest financial mutual, announced this week that it is in the final stages of securing the takeover of Marine & General Mutual (M&GM) – the oldest active registered company in the UK. The announcement, which went out on Monday, has been well received and we’ve seen pick up in print, broadcast and digital media, including BBC Scotland, BBC News online, The Times, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Independent, Evening Standard, Daily Mirror and The Sun, as well as regional and trade media coverage.

Sesame Bankhall Group is launching a major new national conference for mortgage advisers. The one day event, which will is being held on 1 July 2015, will include representation from over 40 lenders, insurers and support services providers. MRM is managing a targeted trade PR campaign in the run-up to the conference.
Meanwhile, Nucleus – the adviser built wrap – is working on a new best practice initiative called Illuminate, which includes workshops in Glasgow, Leeds and London. These offer educational, in-depth and practical workshops to help advisers develop their business. To support the initiative Nucleus is launching a new microsite, which will include contributions from our very own Michael Taggart and Havard Hughes.
Speaking of Havard, our Head of Public Affairs has penned his views on the threat to the City at the upcoming election. He believes that unless it ‘stands up to be counted’, the City could be hit with higher taxes and tighter regulation. Click here to read the full article.
If you’re one of the dozens of people that read our last newsletter top-to-bottom, you’ll know the digital team have been supporting Amlin’s sponsorship of the first ever FormulaE championship. The Amlin Aguri Race Team have been at the front of the grid across social media platforms consistently since the first race but a smorgasbord of technical difficulties have left our drivers sad faced and lacking points… until now!
Antonio Felix Da Costa snatched first place in the final lap of the Buenos Aires ePrix, causing Twitter to explode in a manner not seen since Kim Kardashian-West took a champagne shower.
We’re shifting gears away from trackside too with a growing number of clients weaving digital into their PR & Public Affairs strategies. 2015 is definitely shaping up to be the year of Digital in Financial Services and beyond.
Well, with all that good news, we’re certainly not letting the wintery weather rain on our parade.
We hope you’ve all had an equally good start to 2015.
