MRM Work Experience 2023
This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jenell, a talented year 12 student, to our work experience programme in London. We kicked off her journey by asking a few questions to get to know her better and understand her goals for placement.
At MRM, we’re thrilled to have hosted not just one, but three amazing students this year for our work experience programme. It’s been an incredible chance for them to dive into the fast-paced world of a PR agency and gain valuable insights into their future careers!
We believe in nurturing young talent and providing them with a real taste of what it’s like to work in the industry. Our work experience programme allows students like Jenell to explore their passions, build skills, and set their sights on a bright future.
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Jenell and I am a year 12 student who is currently studying at Logic Studio School in Felltham. I am studying a BTEC Business Diploma and BTEC Travel & Tourism Extended Certificate. I am an ambitious and hardworking person, so I like to try new opportunities and get my tasks done to the best of my ability. I have an older brother who is going through his last year in University of Portsmouth and a younger sister who is completing year GCSEs at the Green School for Girls.
Why did you choose to do your work experience here at MRM?
I chose to do my work experience at MRM, because I wanted to broaden my knowledge of what a PR financial services firm is and what they do, as it may be a possible future career pathway for me. I think that I will be able to learn a lot from working at MRM.
What would you like to take away from your time here at MRM?
I would like to build and polish some of my skills, for example, my communication and organisational skills.
What accomplishments are you most proud of and why?
I would say that one of my biggest accomplishments in my life was being able to pass my GCSEs, because I had some drawbacks during year 11. However, I was determined to pass and put in all the effort to pass my GCSEs and get into my dream Sixth Form, which is Logic Studio School.
Another accomplishment I am proud of is being able to work at MRM, because I am keen to learn what people do at MRM and how everything works. Since it is also my first job, I am proud and excited to be able to work here, so I will make sure that I am able to leave with a positive experience.
Do you think it’s important for young people to learn about the importance of money and if so, why?
I think that it is very important for young people to learn about the importance of money, because it means they will manage their expenses. This will then assist them to not get into debt.
What do you think financial services PR is?
Financial services PR is when a finance business goes to a company, like MRM, to help grow its business by building its reputation and increasing its profile.
What are your future life/career goals?
My future goals are to complete sixth form with good grades and be able to get a Degree Apprenticeship in a pathway that interests me. I also plan to try out new opportunities by stepping out of my comfort zone to have experience in everything, which will also help me be more confident and knowledgeable.
