Bankhall launches series of business development workshops
Bankhall, the professional support services provider, has launched a new series of business development workshops for adviser firms at eight venues across the UK.
The workshops focus on business growth with a particular emphasis on the impact and challenges for business leaders in leading and managing expansion. The sessions – which are being run by Bankhall in conjunction with Lou Macari, Aegon UK’s Platform Strategy Director – are designed for organisations of any size who wish to grow their businesses.
Topics that firms will cover include:
• Understand the various stages of the business lifecycle and assess what stage your own business is at currently;
• Understand the key success factors for where you are now and most importantly for where you want to go next;
• Provide an opportunity to consider how your business is matching up in terms of these key success factors and identify areas for possible improvement;
• Consider the requirements of the business leaders to lead change at each stage of business growth and identify potential development areas.
Christian Woodford, Head of Bankhall Account Management said: “We recognise that there are numerous factors that need to be considered and prioritised for businesses to be able to grow. Our business development workshops provide leaders with valuable information through presentations, case studies and discussions with peers, with emphasis placed on practical action planning.”
Lou Macari brings a real “hands on” approach to all his sessions having been a business owner for over 20 years. He then spent 12 years as a business consultant, mainly in Financial Services, before taking up senior management roles at AXA and Aegon. Lou has an Economics and Marketing degree and an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School and is a Diploma Member of the Market Research Society.
Robert Young, owner of InvestNShare, took part in Bankhall’s business development programme last year and recommends that other similar businesses take the time out to review their propositions: “I believe that we can become too focused within our own business day-to-day that we fail to work on it longer term. The workshop afforded me the space to do just that. It also allowed me to learn from my peers and share ideas that have helped with my own planning and structure.
“I have since gone on to work with a business consultant and define the mission statement for the business and the values that underpin it. I am now working on the operational plan for the next three years and feel more in control of the direction we want to go and the profit targets that we have set.”
