RWC Partners expands Equity Income team
RWC Partners’ Equity Income team, which currently manages c. $4.5bn for its clients, is further developing the depth of its resource with the hire of James Kellett.
Kellett joined the team – led by Ian Lance and Nick Purves – as a research analyst last month. He was previously an investment analyst at Orbis Investment Advisory, which he joined in 2013 after completing a degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
The team established the RWC Equity Income franchise in 2010 and employs a conviction led, value-based stock selection process combined with a distinctive and technical approach to providing stabilising assets within its portfolios. Through this approach the team aims to deliver solutions which both preserve capital and enhance returns over the long term, with a smoother return profile for investors.
The hire of Kellett follows the significant expansion of RWC’s investment capability. The group hired a 17-strong emerging markets team from Everest Capital in March 2015, headed up by John Malloy and James Johnstone. The team now manages $2.2bn in total, with $155m in the RWC Global Emerging Markets fund, the Luxembourg-domiciled UCITS version of the strategy.
Commenting on the appointment, Ian Lance said: “James is a talented young analyst who will provide further support to the team as we continue to expand our investor base in the UK and Europe. We believe in the organic development of the people who join us and we look forward to James transitioning into the team and contributing to the evolution of our process.”
Dan Mannix, CEO of RWC, added: “RWC is focused on recruiting exceptional investment talent, and then giving teams the freedom to deliver the outperformance that our clients expect. The expansion of the equity income team is the latest example of our commitment to building our capabilities and investing in our own business.”
